SOUTH WESTERN REGION [BASED IN MBARARA]
By Martha and Sarah, SU South Western Region
When as a Region we reflect on the Lord’s
goodness over the years, there is nothing we can
give, but to return all the glory to him. It’s against
this background that we held a get together for SU
supporters, members, patrons, beneficiaries, staff
and well-wishers for a thanksgiving ceremony
at Besania, the SU house in Mbarara on 14th
December 2008.
One of the things we were specifically thanking
God for was the renovation for the Hostel block
at Besania.. During the thanksgiving, our Regional
Chairman, Rev. John Mulindabigwi challenged all
present to give to bring the hostel up to standard,
and many gave generously. Our target was to raise
5,000,000 and members gave 1,905,000, 5 cows
and 1 goat. Thank you very much for giving and
continue to pray for God’s provision to complete
the renovation.
This quarter, 10,642 children and youth were
reached and 2,014 of these made a commitment
to follow Christ. Seeing God use us to oversee this
work has given us so much joy!!!!

CENTRAL REGION [BASED IN KAMPALA]

Ebenezer! This far the Lord has brought us; from
5th to 10th December 2008, we had our first camp
at the SU campsite. It was so exciting!!!
It run under the theme “equipped to transform”
2 Tim 3:17. 98 children attended and were cared
for by 37 facilitators and 6 patrons. 50 of these
children made a commitment to follow Christ.
One of the children who attended this camp(Boaz) had this to say: “I learnt so many things!!! I
learnt to appreciate my family, rich or poor. I learnt
to be satisfied with what I have and also very many
things about love. If you want to know anything
about love, come and ask me. Campsite is a very
good place. There are fruits like mangoes. The best
for me was when we had an opportunity to fish. It
was great. I am grateful to my auntie Sarah who
sponsored me.”
It was challenging to run the camp on an
unfinished premise especially the lack of running
water and electricity but if we could do what we
did in the unfinished state, how much more when
it is complete? We can’t wait!! Thank you all who
are giving.
The youth camp at Gayaza High School gathered
390 youth from 60 schools. Our key note address
was by Rev. Geoffrey Byarugaba, the Head of AEE
(African Evangelistic Enterprise) and he shared
from Col 3:1-18.
NORTH WESTERN REGION [BASED IN ARUA]
By Medline Gitau, SU Noth Western Region
One of SU Uganda’s strategies this year has been
to equip and mentor full time graduate Volunteer
Trainers in implementing SU programmes. I thank
God because the volunteers brought a difference
in the quality of work produced. These Volunteer
trainers have been assigned tasks to do and I am
happy to report that they can now run the work on
minimal supervision. They were able to organize
and manage the P.7 Leavers one day rallies and
carry out numerous trainings in schools on their
own and the results are good.
Another strategy for this year was to equip
Christian teachers in the schools. It is exciting to
see a committed team of teachers in schools who
are there for the young souls. Compared to last
year, this year’s teachers’ commitment is good
and promising. At least 70% have been active in
their school clubs.
This has boosted the work and in many ways made
our work as schools’ workers easier.
This year, a total of 3,751 children and 3,867 youths
have been reached through SU clubs/ discipleship
ministry in schools, of whom 904 children and
2,855 youths accepted Christ Jesus as their Lord
and Savior.
